Udara Madushanka Kuruppu – PhD
Udara finished his B.Sc. Special (Hons) in Chemistry, USJ (SL) – 2017 in Sri Lanka. He is a graduate student started in Jan 2021. He enjoys working on the analytical instruments. His research is focused on developing efficient light emitting diodes, ad building variety of optical setup to investigate the photophysical aspects of devices.
In free time, he likes to google and learn about new technologies, watch Cricket matches, and listen to music.
Wisdom Koku Evadzi, PhD
Wisdom graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah university of Science and Technology in 2015 in Ghana. He is a graduate student and started in January 2022. Wisdom research is currently focused on investigating the plasmonic effect of Ag/Au nanomaterials and how they can be used in device.
In his free time, Wisdom enjoys writing codes, listening to music and watching soccer.
Palani Karthikeyan, PhD
Palani completed a Master’s degree in chemistry in 2023 and a specialized research course in Materials Science (PGDMS-2024) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), India. Where he worked on harvesting ambient triplet excitons from organic small molecules for optoelectronic applications.
Elnaz Dadashzadeh Asl – Ph.D.
Elnaz earned her M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering – Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of Isfahan, Iran. She joined Gangishetty Lab in January 2025. At MSU, she works on plasmonic nanomaterials and perovskite based optoelectronic devices. She enjoys every stage of the process, from synthesis to device fabrication, and prefers hands-on experimental work, where she believes true learning happens.
Outside the lab, Elnaz is a passionate movie enthusiast with a love for sci-fi movies, especially those by Christopher Nolan. Though naturally introverted and drawn to quiet spaces, she dreams of extraordinary adventures, from traveling to space to trying thrilling experiences like bungee jumping.
Samina Ferdousi (Ph.D.)
Samina is a graduate student at the Department of Chemistry, Mississippi State University, and started in Fall ’25. She completed her B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Chemistry Discipline, Khulna University, Bangladesh, in 2017. After, she earned her MS in Inorganic Chemistry from the same University in 2018. Samina is interested in synthesizing metal nanoparticles and perovskite nanocrystals for energy conversion applications.
Samina also enjoys visiting, cooking, and passing time with family.
“Boxy”
Boxy is a full time member of the lab, who helps all the groups members with device fabrication and other chemistry.
In free time, well! she is not supposed to have any free time, however, she likes to scream for N2 and seek attention by scaring the lab members.
